Dominican Foreign Policy is established by the President of the Republic and executed by the Ministry of Foreign Relations. Such policies are conceived as a developmental instrument, and are executed around an active diplomacy that seeks to take advantage of the opportunities presented in the international context.  The principles are:

SI Permanent reaffirmation to all countries of the world of our National Independence.
SI Defence of our sovereignty.
SI Defence of our territorial integrity, including surrounding water and exclusive economic zone.
SI Application of solidarity, without reservations, to all the nations of the world, which fight for their independence and sovereignty.
SI Respect to the auto-determination of the peoples, as well as the permanent struggle for human rights and world peace.

Respect of the treaties, accords or international conventions which the Dominican Republic has entered either by ratification, agreement or other procedures foreseen by international law.

SI Application of a foreign policy, which seeks to expand and diversify the relations with all the countries of the world, according to our national interests.
SI Consolidation of a foreign policy that proposes, among its basic goals, the search for markets for Dominican exports products.
SI Fostering the Dominican participation in international forums.

Integration with Latin America and the Caribbean.
SI

Promotion of free trade and the integration of North and South American countries.
